George North has warned England that Wales’ season will come alive in the Six Nations Championship.

The buoyant Welsh named their squad for the championship, including Kiwi-born fly-half Gareth Anscombe, one of four uncapped players.

Although Warren Gatland found no room for Lions prop Adam Jones, North licked his lips at the prospect of a campaign which kicks off against England on Friday fortnight.

“We notoriously start a bit slow in the autumn series, we get caught behind the pace,” said the Northampton wing.

“But by the time we get to the Six Nations, we are up to speed. We seem to thrive at the Six Nations, we enjoy the challenge and experience of playing home and away.”

That much is clear from Wales’ recent championship record compared to that of England.

Since the last Red Rose Grand Slam in 2003 Wales have won three. In that same period Wales have claimed four titles to England’s one.

Last time out, Waren Gatland’s men beat South Africa – their first win over one of the southern hemisphere’s Big Three since 2008 – and they go into this campaign with a spring in their step.

Aside from Anscombe – a 2011 Junior World Cup winner with New Zealand who qualifies through his Welsh mother – prop Rob Evans, hooker Kristian Dacey and centre Tyler Morgan are also uncapped.

WALES” SIX NATIONS SQUAD:

Backs L Halfpenny (Toulon), L Williams (Scarlets), G North (Northampton), A Cuthbert (Cardiff), H Amos (Newport), T Morgan (Newport), S Williams (Scarlets), J Davies (Clermont), J Roberts (R Metro), C Allen (Cardiff), G Anscombe (Cardiff), R Priestland (Scarlets), D Biggar (Ospreys), G Davies (Scarlets), R Webb (Ospreys), M Phillips (R Metro).
