Trevor Smith Actor Hollyoaks Character
A body has been found in the search for missing Coronation Street actor Trevor Smith.
The 42-year-old, who is originally from Middleton, was last seen at his home in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, on Monday night.
Derbyshire Police yesterday had issued an urgent appeal to find the experienced actor after his sudden disappearance.
But tonight the force revealed that a man’s body had tragically been found in a quarry their officers and was believed to be that of the TV performer.
The discovery is not being treated as suspicious.
Trevor, who also went by the surname Hancock, was described as having plaster casts on both his wrists when he was reported missing by concerned relatives shortly before 10pm on Monday.
He had been a professional actor since 1991 and trained at Manchester’s Arden School of Theatre from 1996 to 1999.
Following his course, he went on to appear in Coronation Street in 1999 as Kevin Dolan – a valuer from estate agents Adam Wade & C, who were selling the soap’s shop, The Kabin.
He also appeared in two episodes of Emmerdale playing a character called Tom as well as having roles in Hollyoaks, ITV’s The Memoirs of Sherlock Homes, and Channel 4 medical drama No Angels.
He also had a number of short film credits, including Gate Crash, Behind Closed Doors and the feature film Salvage, along with various TV commercials.
He had also been a member of several theatre companies, and was the co-founder and artistic director of the Men In Dressing Gowns Theatre Company in Derbyshire.
No formal identification has taken place.
But in a statement, Derbyshire Police said: “Officers believe that the body found this afternoon is Trevor Smith, who was also known as Trevor Hancock.”
