Liverpool News And Transfers Xherdan Shaqiri Bid Submitted To Bayern Munich For January Move
Here”s all the latest Reds stories from today”s Daily Mirror…
Rodgers: Quiet January expected
Brendan Rodgers have revealed that he will NOT be doing much business in the transfer window.
And instead the Liverpool manager will try to give youth a chance, as he looks to his frighteningly young squad to continue their improvement of recent weeks.
The form of Raheem Sterling as a central striker has made life so much easier for the Reds boss, and removed the desperate need to sign a forward in the transfer window.
Rodgers will still look for a keeper, with the Anfield club not giving up all hope on Chelsea”s Petr Cech, but he revealed he will not be dragging out the cheque book unless he can significantly improve his squad.
“My first look is always within – we”ve seen how we”ve adapted the team and structure of team in order to make that work,” he explained.

Gerrard has earned the right
Clive BrunskillRight to talk: Gerrard”s service to the club has allowed him freedom to talk to clubs, says Rodgers
Steven Gerrard”s incredible service to Liverpool allows him the right to speak to any club when the transfer window opens on New Year”s Day… if he so chooses.
That is the message from his manager Brendan Rodgers, who has insisted that he remains completely relaxed about his captain”s future at Anfield.
The Reds” boss believes he has a close enough relationship with the veteran midfielder to be confident Gerrard will stay with Liverpool for next season.
But technically, he can sign a pre-contract with an overseas club in the next 24 hours if he should wish – and Rodgers accepts the player”s loyalty to the club he has served for more than 20 years allows him the absolute respect to do what he wishes.
Asked if he was concerned that his captain hadn”t yet signed a new contract, which means he can speak to foreign teams from Thursday, the Anfield manager insisted: “I think he has earned that respect if he does.

Sterling saved us millions
Brendan Rodgers believes the incredible tactical maturity of Raheem Sterling may have saved Liverpool millions in the transfer market.
And the Anfield boss reckons that same intelligence is also the reason why the 20-year-old will handle the intense pressure of being a marked man, now he has proved he can be the main focal point of the Reds’ attack.
Many mocked when the Northern Irish coach decided to throw caution to the wind and return to Liverpool all-out attacking style in recent weeks… with Sterling used as a central striker.
It has worked so well though – with Rodgers’ team producing an avalanche of chances in the last four games – that the pressure the manager faced to sign a striker in the January window has been removed completely.

Owners expected slow start
Liverpool owners John Henry and Tom Werner have claimed that they expected their team to struggle in the absence of Luis Suarez this term.
Suarez plundered 31 goals for the Reds as they lost out on the Premier League title on the final day of the campaign and the Uruguayan striker was subsequently sold to Barcelona for around £75m in July.
Liverpool have also been handicapped by Daniel Sturridge”s ongoing injury problemsand last season”s 21-goal striker hasn”t featured since August having picked up a number of thigh and calf problems.
Brendan Rodgers” side have struggled to find their form this term and they currently sit eighth in the Premier League – five points off the top four – and despite spending around £120m in the summer, the American pair have stated they knew the Reds would face a period of transition.

Offer for Bayern star
Liverpool have made a permanent transfer off to Bayern Munich for out-of-favour midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, according to Sky Italia.
The Swiss sensation has made it clear that he would be open for a move away from the Allianz Arena in January after only playing a bit-part in this season”s campaign.
And Liverpool are trying to take advantage of that, it seems, by pipping Inter Milan and Juventus to the signing by snapping him up early in January.
No for Nain
Paolo BrunoRejected: The Roma star is set to reject a big money move to England
Liverpool will not sign Radja Nainggolan after the Roma player opted against the switch, according to Italian newspaper Il Tempo.
It was suggested that the Belgian midfielder was subject of an offer from Liverpool of £60,000-a-week, which is said to be double his current wages.
It comes as another blow as the same source reported that Xherdan Shaqiri is likely to sign for Juventus and snub a move to Anfield.
Marco Reus is set to reject a move to one of the Premier League’s big guns as he has reportedly agreed a deal with Real Madrid, according to the Daily Star.
The German attacking midfielder has been the subject of interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, as he becomes available for £20million at the end of the current season.
But now it seems Los Blancos have edged ahead in the race and have secured the signature already.

Tottenham are hoping to beat Liverpool to the signing of Danny Ings, according to the Telegraph.
The north London club are hoping to seal the Burnley Under-21 sensation by securing him with a £7million move, but have been put on red alert as Liverpool are said to want to poach the youngster.
Ings” impressive goalscoring form would see him become the perfect man to lead the Reds” front line – and he is out of contract at the end of the season.
