Give A Gift To Yourself Shop Our Editors December Must Haves
December means plenty of holiday shopping and gift giving, but it”s our job to make sure you don”t neglect your own wish list either.
To satisfy the icy temperatures, we”ve pulled a cozy lineup of outerwear: for your holiday parties, an arsenal of evening wear that”ll make you the best-dressed guest — or hostess — and for those nights where curling up fireside (or couch-side) is the only thing on your mind, a perfect set of pj”s. Oh, and in case a Winter getaway is on the itinerary, we”ve got you covered there, too. Scroll through to shop and treat yourself this month — and we”re not just talking about grabbing a cup of hot chocolate.
Holiday parties are about more than just mulled wine and eggnog — it”s nailing the perfect look that always makes the night for me. I”ve been eyeing this Zara cape sleeved dress ($80) for a while because it may just be the perfect LBD — dainty enough to be black-tie appropriate but creative enough to stand out from the crowd.

If I”m going to live in my sneakers all Winter, I”m not going to choose just any old pair. This season, I”m slipping into Mary Katrantzou”s newly launched Adidas collab ($170). And I won”t feel guilty if they never actually step foot in the gym.
— Hannah McKinley, editor
I love the chic effect of white in Winter, but am the kind of girl who”d spill tomato sauce down a white coat within five minutes of wearing it. Instead, my Winter white experimentation will come via accessories only. I love how the studs on the Linea Pelle Grayson date bag ($129, originally $265) give a classic shape a more modern spin, and it’s the perfect size for all those festive nights out.
— Gemma Cartwright, UK editor
Because I refuse to ruin my outfits with a bad fleece, this faux shearling jacket ($198) is always the answer to cool-girl style that”s also entirely cozy.
“Tis the season for really great boots and layers, but a Winter getaway calls for something easy — and nothing is easier or cooler than Jason Polan’s kitschy Soludos ($65). The perfect slide-on style that”ll take you from the airport to your beachy destination.
Something about chic Winter white and a subtle hint of skin makes this Tibi off-the-shoulder top ($355) the most elegant kind of “party top.”
The “90s fad may have come and gone, but I will forever be a creeper, thanks to Saint Laurent ($659, originally $1,095).
— Allison McNamara, reporter and producer
When Christmas day arrives, my goal is to spend as many hours in my pajamas as humanly possible. Dressed in this silky and chic Eberjay pj set ($115), I could make it through the entire holiday without ever having to change.

True story: this Helmut Lang sweatshirt ($265) inspired the decor of my home office. Comfortable, clean, and the perfect example of how every piece, now matter how basic, should be special.
— Meg Cuna, style director
I”ve been completely obsessed with everything Keira Knightley has worn on her recent press tour, but unfortunately Valentino couture isn”t an option for mere mortals like me. Luckily, Needle & Thread has me covered, with this embroidered Willow dress ($474), which looks just like the kind of thing Keira would wear to a Christmas party, making it the perfect option for mine.
The key to surviving Winter is making sure I always have the right gear available — like cool kicks that can weather wind, rain, ice, or snow. These Vans metallic leather high-tops ($75) not only make me insanely happy, but they also were made to help me survive the elements.
— Aemilia Madden
White leather feels so much more fresh to me this Winter. Investing in this J Brand moto jacket ($1,434) seems like a must.
— Allison McNamara
Christmas means a trip back to my parents home in the English countryside (think The Holiday, but with a 1960s house and no Jude Law) and inevitable walks around muddy fields. With the swiftly dropping temperatures, that trip calls a cosy classic like the Boden Penryn Parka ($268), which has a removable gilet for extra warmth.
Rose gold shades? HOW do I not already own these ($195)?
— Allison McNamara
I”m still not over all things “70s, and when Olivia Palermo stepped out in her wide-leg denim, my obsession only grew deeper. I love the fit of these MiH For Net-a-Porter Marrakesh jeans ($225), along with the pocket detail and the wash. How fitting that they”re part of a new retro-chic collection inspired by just the right decade.
— Sarah Wasilak, editorial assistant
You know those days where your outfit seems great, but then you get down to the shoes, and just — ugh — it seemed better barefoot? I’m thinking these versatile tan Mui Mui booties ($359, originally $595) can solve that issue.
— Samantha Sutton, assistant editor
A girl should have dreams, and those dreams should be of Chloé ($3,250).
Aldo always has the best (and most affordable) bags! This clock-themed clutch ($35) is just way too cute not to pair with my New Year”s outfit.
While I have a pair of Hunter rain boots that I wear in the snow, this year I want a style that I can trek to work in and keep on all day long. I”m obsessed with the wraparound-strap effect of these Burberry House rain boots ($325), and they”ve got just enough plaid print for me.
I might be a little a late to the ear jacket game — but I”m making up for it with these multibezel diamond ear jackets by EF Collection ($1,020).
— Allison McNamara
I”ve just about worn out my old black handbag, and I”m in need of a versatile design with a lot of structure. This Kate Spade Grove Court bag ($348) is the perfect size and silhouette for me.
What better way to ring in the New Year than in a gorgeous (and petite-person-friendly) metallic ASOS dress ($104)?
Each seemingly simple piece from Sacai ($553, originally $790) is given something special that transforms it completely. This is a good example of a classic gray sweater juxtaposed in a trapeze shape to make it fresh and new. This is one of too many reasons why this is my absolute favorite collection right now.
I”m not an over-the-top-jewelry kind of girl, so I love how these Elizabeth and James earrings ($195) give a nod to the festive season without going overboard.
