Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally look set to face off in the ring after years of speculation surrounding the pair.

Filipino Pacquiao has already agreed to terms to the superfight and is now anxiously waiting for his undefeated rival to put pen to paper.

Sam Watson, who works for Mayweather”s advisor Al Haymon, has indicated that boxing”s most eagerly awaited fight in decades is closer than ever.

“They’re putting it together now," he said.

"They’re going to do a Showtime-HBO [joint pay-per-view] like they did last time with Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson.

"They’re working on the monies now and everything they’ve got to work on to make it happen.

“I can’t wait. It’s going to be huge.”

The contest, should it be confirmed, is expected to take place at the world famous MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas on May 2.

Pacquiao says he is willing to face his great rival after years of the pair avoiding each other and it is understood he has accepted a 40 per cent cut of what will be the richest fight in boxing history.

The eight-division world champion has also agreed to Mayweather”s demands for drugs testing, which has been an obstacle in the past.

"I think that Manny agreed to USADA testing shows you his eagerness to make this fight," said boxing promoter Carl Moretti.

The final decision now rests with Mayweather himself and he will decide whether the fight happens or not.

Amir Khan, who does not believe the bout will take place, was in a similar position in the autumn of 2013 when he signed a deal to take Mayweather on, only for the world”s pound-for-pound king to opt to fight Marcos Maidana instead.
