Best Soap Moments Of 2014 From Murders To Train Crashes And A Heartfelt Coming Out Story
People in soapland are rarely happy for very long – and this year”s been no different.
Unfortunately, the death toll has been steadily rising over the past 12 months, but while we have been sad to see some of our favourite characters go, it”s made for some compelling viewing.
Tear-jerking moments include Hayley Cropper”s death after discovering she was terminally ill, and Carmel McQueen”s dramatic exit after the devastating Hollyoaks train crash.
Over in EastEnders, the Carters have suffered more than their fair share of heartache over the past year – and their family is set to unravel further over the coming months.
But they did provide us with one of the more heartwarming stories this year – when Mick Carter showed overwhelming support for his son Johnny after he admitted he was gay.
So sit back and soak up our top picks from the soaps in 2014. Make sure you tweet us @MirrorTV and let us know your favourite.

Tina McIntyre murder – Coronation Street
After Tina got involved with a married man, it was always going to end badly.
And with a whole load of suspects in the mix, it was almost impossible to know who had killed her.
She should have known to stay away from blunt objects – she lives in Coronation Street after all.
Linda Carter rape – EastEnders
One of the most controversial storylines of the year got everyone talking about EastEnders.
Linda Carter was attacked by Dean, her husband”s brother (who was originally thought to be his nephew.)
And now the rape has been revealed, Linda”s husband Mick seriously kicked off in the Queen Vic.
Train crash – Hollyoaks
We all thought Carmel McQueen would live, when she was one of the first to climb out of the train wreckage.
But sadly an explosion at the crash scene caused fatal injuries.
Surrounded by her family, Carmel passed away in one of the more tear-jerking moments of the year.
Johnny coming out – EastEnders
Finally, a more heartwarming story.
Everyone had their own opinions on how Mick Carter would react when his son revealed he was gay, but the pub landlord surprised us all.
In an emotional father-son moment, Mick showed his support for his son in one of the more happier moments this year.
Donna”s death – Emmerdale
Donna”s death was one of the more shocking scenes on our soaps this year.
We already knew she was suffering from a terminal illness, but after getting into a messy situation involving Ross, Gary and Aaron, Donna”s exit shocked viewers.
Making the ultimate sacrifice for her family, the copper handcuffed herself to bad guy Gary and launched herself off a multi-storey carpark roof.

Lucy Beale”s death – EastEnders
In an ongoing storyline, Lucy Beale”s death still remains unsolved and the killer still roams Albert Square.
At this point, it looked like absolutely anyone could have murdered her on that fateful night in the woods where she was hit over the head and left to die.
But with DC Emma Summerhayes about to make a significant discovery – will the truth finally be revealed?
Also, is anyone really safe?
