Here are today”s Gunners stories from the Sunday Mirror and Sunday People…

Szczesny set for recall

Wojciech Szczesny is in line for a recall for Arsenal when they take on champions Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

The Poland international was dropped after the Premier League defeat at Southampton on New Year’s Day when he was blamed for the two goals Arsenal conceded.

He was also caught smoking in the shower after the game – and was fined around £20,000 by the Gunners” furious boss Arsene Wenger.

Szczesny was replaced by Colombian David Ospina for the next two matches – an FA Cup win against Hull and the 3-0 league victory against Stoke.

Hamann: Wenger needs German brothers

Arsene Wenger should go on a Bender if he wants to turn Arsenal into champions, reckons Didi Hamann.

Hamann has identified German twins Lars Bender and Sven Bender, 25, as the kind of players that Wenger must add to the Gunners’ mix in his quest to challenge Manchester City and Chelsea for the title.

Sven is a two-time Bundesliga winner with Borussia Dortmund. Lars has featured more regularly for Germany, after impressing for Bayer Leverkusen.

Hamann believes that either player would be a perfect fit at the Emirates – and, after a career in which he himself was recognised as an exponent of the art of putting out midfield fires, Hamann should know.

Campbell wanted by Moyes

Stuart MacFarlaneAdios, amigo: Could Campbell be heading to Spain?

David Moyes is waiting on an answer from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over Joel Campbell as he bids to strengthen his attacking options at Real Sociedad this month, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.

Former Manchester United and Everton manager Moyes is desperate to add more firepower and the 22-year-old Costa Rican fits the bill.

Moyes has considered moves for several England-based strikers, including Burnley’s Danny Ings, who is out of contract in the summer, Tottenham’s Roberto Soldado and Jordan Rhodes of Blackburn.

But it is the Gunners” Campbell who is at the top of his hit-list and he will press Wenger to give him an answer on a loan move in the coming days.

Coquelin new deal

Arsenal are ready to offer Francis Coquelin a new deal.

The 23-year-old midfielder has played a key role in the first team squad since he was recalled from a loan spell at Charlton at the start of the month by manager Arsene Wenger.

He has shown muscle and energy in front of an often fragile back four and impressed Wenger with his attitude.

Coquelin has struggled to establish himself at the Gunners since he was signed from French club Laval in 2008.

Cavani bid ready

Arsenal are ready to launch a £45million bid for long-term target Edinson Cavani, according to the Sunday Express.

The Gunners could be persuaded into the move after coach Laurent Blanc admitted that Paris Saint-Germain were looking to offload players.

Cavani, 27, has bagged 13 goals already this season and Blanc said ahead of PSG”s weekend clash with Evian that "there will certainly be exits out of PSG in the winter market".

Paulista wants Premier League move

GettyDesire: Paulista would like to play in the Premier League

Arsenal transfer target Gabriel Paulista has told Globo Esporte that he has the desire to play in the Premier League.

The Brazilian centre-back, currently playing at Villarreal, is thought to have gone top of Arsene Wenger”s transfer wish list this January window.

“I will not lie to you. Before the end of the year, before the whole story of interest from Barcelona and Arsenal even happened, my manager was here and had a conversation with him.

“One of the things I said was my dream to play in England. I have this desire. Now this [the stories linking him to Arsenal], for me it was a great joy.”

Keeping tabs on Rad

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are all keeping tabs on the future of Radamel Falcao, according to the Sunday Times.

The on-loan Manchester United man is in and out of the United team and is looking increasingly unlikely to have his move made permanent – at the cost of £43million – at the end of the season.

And with his future in doubt, the Premier League”s big guns are said to be watching him, hoping to swoop for a smaller transfer price if he is returned to AS Monaco at the end of the campaign.

The Colombian international played the full 90 minutes at QPR for United on Saturday afternoon, but had previously been dropped by Louis van Gaal.

Pogba blow

Paolo BrunoSplash the cash: Mega money will be needed to lure Pogba away from Juventus

Premier League clubs are set to miss out on Paul Pogba, as Real Madrid prepare a £78million bid, according to the Daily Star on Sunday.

The Juventus midfielder has been linked with a move back to the Premier League, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all reported to be after his signature.

Pogba, 21, has been one of the standout performers in his side”s performance in Serie A this season and has recently signed a contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2019.
