Arsenal News And Transfers Could 20m Midfielder Be Heading To The Emirates This January
Here are today”s Gunners stories from the Daily Mirror…
Ready for Reid
Arsene Wenger will move for West Ham contract rebel Winston Reid next month.
The Gunners boss is targeting the New Zealand centre-half because he believes West Ham may be tempted to sell rather than lose Reid for nothing in the summer.
West Ham are desperately trying to get the 26-year-old to sign a new deal but Reid appears to have set his sights on a move away from Upton Park.
He wants £60,000-a-week and a £1m signing-on fee if he is a free agent in the summer with Liverpool also monitoring developments closely.
But Wenger wants to bolster his squad in January with a defender top of his wish list and Arsenal have watched Reid in every single game for the past two months.

Podolski set for San Siro
Inter Milan are chasing Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski after the Italian club’s technical director Piero Ausilio met with Gunners officials on Saturday.
Inter are willing to offer £6m for Podolski who is also on £100,000-a-week which has been a stumbling block to his departure in the past.
Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid have also made enquiries about Podolski who has reiterated his desire to play more regularly after becoming a bit-part player at Arsenal.
But they face a dilemma as Olivier Giroud is now banned for three games and Joel Campbell and Yaya Sanogo could both go out on loan.

Wenger dreaming of top four again
Normal order was restored at Upton Park.
The Premier League table now has a more familiar and ominous look about it as Arsenal crept back up towards the top four.
It was a good day for the visitors as everyone else above them dropped points so it was no wonder Arsene Wenger was smiling again.
But West Ham will be cursing their luck because they were much the better team in the first half until Arsenal scored two goals in the space of three minutes just before the break.

Report: West Ham 1-2 Arsenal
Arsenal survived a late rally from West Ham to secure a 2-1 win and stake their claim for a place in the top four of the Premier League.
Goals from Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck were enough despite Cheikhou Kouyate”s effort as the Gunners held on to leapfrog their London neighbours at Upton Park into fifth.
The Gunners took the lead from the penalty spot on 41 minutes when Cazorla wrestled back the spot-kick duties following Alexis Sanchez”s miss against QPR to rifle home from 12 yards.
They extended their advantage shortly after when Welbeck tapped home from close range after great work from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who pulled the ball back to his England colleague at the byline.

Van Dijk staying put
Virgil van Dijk will turn down a move to Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United or Tottenham with all three teams primed to bid for him in January, according to the Daily Express.
All three sides are said to be preparing £10million bids for the winter transfer window, as defensive reinforcements becomes the prime worry for all four of those sides.
The Gunners have been linked with Van Dijk for a couple of months now but reports suggest that their efforts to secure him will be thwarted by his desire to stick with Celtic until the end of the current campaign.
Carvalho bid ready
ReutersPrepared: Reports suggest the Gunners will swoop for Carvalho in January
Arsenal are preparing their £20million move for Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho, according to the Independent.
Arsene Wenger is current in the marker for a deep midfielder as he searches for a long-term replacement for Mikel Arteta – and the Portuguese man is the one he wants.
The Gunners were linked to Carvalho in the summer, but then he demanded a much higher transfer fee, so Wenger will reportedly look to complete the deal shortly.
