Algarve Death Cops Quiz Secret Lover Of Brit Husband After Wifes Body Found Under Patio
Detectives investigating a British man over the alleged murder of his partner have quizzed a woman rumoured to be his secret lover.
Nigel Jackson, 59, has appeared in court for the first time 48 hours after the body of Brenda Davidson was discovered in a concrete tomb at the back of her ramshackle villa on the Portuguese Algarve.
Haggard looking Jackson was hastily driven in an unmarked police car into Portimao criminal court at around 4pm.
He is alleged to have killed Brenda, 72, before wrapping her body in plastic tarpaulin and placing it in a shallow grave topped with concrete and bricks.
Jackson, described by neighbours as a “chain smoking beanpole”, was remanded in custody for the murder amid claims he was having an affair with a Portuguese mum-of-one.

There is no suggestion the woman, believed to be in her 30s, was in any way involved in Brenda’s death.
But it is understood she has been questioned as a witness after Jackson allegedly moved her into the home he shared with Brenda just weeks after she was last seen in November.
Devastated neighbours told how Jackson, a former taxi driver from Gravesend, Kent, lied to friends telling them how she had “gone to England for medical treatment”.
But when her family failed to hear from her for weeks they contacted the British consul who appealed to Portuguese police to investigate her disappearance.
Murder cops arrived on Tuesday evening at the couple’s home in the village of Alcalar – 30 miles from the seaside resort of Praia da Luz – demanding to know where Brenda was.
Jackson is then understood to have confessed to burying his partner’s body after returning home one day to find she had committed suicide.
However, a post-mortem showed Brenda had several marks to her neck thought to have been inflicted by a sharp object, reinforcing the police view she suffered a violent death and did not kill herself.

The Brit couple moved to the Algarve from Gravesend, Kent, around 10 years ago.
They had previously shared a home in Rochester, Kent.
Brenda’s best friend Julia Freitas said: “The last conversation I had with her was in mid-November when she phoned me after my mum died to say she was very sorry for my loss.
“When I got back from the funeral service in another part of Portugal a few days later Nigel claimed Brenda had gone to England for hospital treatment for a cold that would’t go away.
“I found it very strange because she’d been treated for cervical cancer in Portugal and had been very happy with the way things went so going to the UK for a cold seemed odd.”

Forensic officers were called in to break up the concrete patio at the back of the villa with pneumatic drills before Brenda’s decomposed body was uncovered.
The modest £150,000 home was last night cordoned off by police tape.
Local cafe owner Antonio Andre said Jackson, who supplemented a meagre income from a struggling fencing company by managing neighbours’ holiday rentals, had continued to come in every day to buy bread and cigarettes after his partner disappeared.
He said: “He always acted normally. I asked after his wife one day and he said everything was fine.”
